Mustachudo (Nut Cookie)

Edit to add or update your photo! This nut cookie comes from Turkey and Greece and is a great choice for Passover. This recipe is pretty straightforward, though I’ve seen others that involve cooking the ingredients on the stove top until the mix firms then shaping into little balls rolled in sugar or cinnamon. Either way, they taste great.

Serves: About 3 doz.

Ingredients

1 cup almonds, finely ground
3 cups walnuts, finely ground
3/4 cup sugar
1 tbs. cinnamon
1 tbs. cloves
1 egg, beaten
2 tbs. water

Directions

  1. Mix the ground nuts, sugar, cinnamon, cloves, egg and water thoroughly.
  2. Spread evenly in a shallow baking pan and bake at 400 degrees (F) for four minutes – two minutes on the bottom rack and two minutes on the top oven rack.
  3. Cut into square cookies and enjoy.

These are easy to make and healthy. I used Splenda instead of sugar. Next time I make these I will cut down on the cloves.
