Ingredients

1 lb. dry green peas
3 onions, large
1/2 cups vegetable oil
1 whole head garlic
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon salt
3 cups water

Directions

  1. Peel the onions and cut into small cubes. Garlic head should be peeled and crushed.
  2. Heat the oil in a large skillet and saute the onion and garlic until golden brown.
  3. Add the ginger, pepper and salt and 2 cups water. Stir well, cover and bring to boil.
  4. Add the peas and remaining water to the boiling water simmer for 40 minutes on a medium-low temperature.
