Ingredients

1 cup sour cream
1/2 cup yogurt
1/2 lemon, juice only
1/4 tsp. sugar
2 small onions
2 medium tart apples
8 herring fillets, marinated
2 tsp. dill or 1/2 tsp. dill weed

Directions

  1. Blend the sour cream, yogurt, lemon juice and sugar.
  2. Peel the onions and cut into thin slices.
  3. Peel and quarter the apples, remove cores and cut into thin wedges.
  4. Blend onions and apples with the sauce.
  5. In a dish, arrange the herring and apple-onion mixture in layers.
  6. Cover tightly an marinate in refrigerator for 5 hours.
  7. Sprinkle with dill before serving.
