Ingredients

4 medium apples, peeled, cored and sliced
2 cups pecans or almonds, coarsely ground
1 pound of pitted dates
1/2 cup sweet red wine
1/4 cup vinegar

Directions

  1. In a medium-sized saucepan, combine the apples and the date. Add cold water to cover the fruit.
  2. Cook over medium heat until the apples are tender and almost all the water is evaporated.
  3. Grind the apples and dates in a food processor and transfer to a medium-sized bowl.
  4. Add the nuts, vinegar, and wine. If the mixture is too thick, add a little more wine or vinegar.
