Asparagus with Anchovy Sauce

Ingredients

3/4 cups water
3/4 tsp. salt, divided
2 packages (8-10 oz. each) frozen asparagus spears
1 cup vegetable oil
2 tbl. fresh lemon juice
1 tbl. anchovy paste
1 tsp. onion powder
1/4 tbl. garlic powder

Directions

  1. Combine water and 1/2 teaspoon salt in a large saucepan.
  2. Heat to boiling and add frozen asparagus tips. Return to boil, then reduce to medium heat, cover, and cook about 3 minutes.
  3. Drain and spread asparagus tips in a shallow baking dish.
  4. Combine remaining ingredients in a small mixing bowl, then pour over asparagus. Cover and refrigerate 3 hours, stirring periodically.
  5. Serve chilled or at room temperature.
